Developers.
Many would say they exist within a world of their own. Personally, I would agree.
I’ve taken it upon myself to help lead people into understanding of BEA Weblogic (AKA Oracle Weblogic) jobs. Aqualogic is yet another title that is commonly associated with the world of Weblogic.
First, we need to understand what a Weblogic 8 or similar type of programmer does? Simply put, Weblogic programmers work on projects from the Weblogic platform.
Here is a list of qualifications I found on a recent announcement for a new job.
• Portal Lead with 6-9 years of experience in software development
• Framework and features experience within WebLogic Portal 10.3
• Personalization (skins, themes, layouts)
• Page Flows and Annotations
• Security–UUP/Roles/Entitlements
This is an overview of the world of Weblogic, so if you don’t understand the terms above do not give them a second thought.
Generally speaking Weblogic training includes:
• BS degree in computer, engineering, MIS or equivalent job experience.
• Experience in web development and development life cycle.
• Able to develop on the J2EE platform
What is a J2EE platform?
Turning to Webopedia I found the following answer
J2EE is a platform-independent, Java-centric environment from Sun for developing, building and deploying Web-based enterprise applications online.
Therefore, for those with an understanding of Java it would make sense to learn Weblogic
Before investing time and money in the pursuit of a Weblogic position, it would be good to know what the forecast for Weblogic job search possibilities are. Research suggests that Weblogic positions are on the rise and may be even more available for people who live in any of the following locations:
- New Jersey
- Texas
- Connecticut
- Virginia
- New York
- California
Truth be told, many of these states are ripe for a large variety of technology related positions including Weblogic. Consider telecommuting if you have the right talent but are unable to move into one of these areas.
This is not saying that Weblogic jobs are not available elsewhere, they may just be a bit more challenging to find. Another alternative would be to consider moving locations especially if an offer for a higher paying Weblogic job is presented. A Weblogic opportunity usually starts at around 46K while being able to go as high as 100K for the more experienced positions.
Weblogic positions generally have the following types of titles:
• Weblogic Architects
• Weblogic Admins
• Weblogic Developers
Weblogic Developers appear to have the best opportunities moving into the future. However opportunities are available in a vast array of ways within the world of Weblogic.
There are several books worth reading for those that would like more information about Weblogic including:
• WebLogic Server Bible
• J2EE Web Services on WebLogic
• Oracle WebCenter 11g Handbook
• WebLogic 8.1 Unleashed
• J2EE Performance Testing with WebLogic Server
These books and ones like them which feature BEA Weblogic also known as Oracle Weblogic Jobs can be found on Amazon or by Googling the respective titles.
